Donations Boost to Support Children Fleeing Domestic Abuse

St James' staff and BBF accepting donation

A Lichfield project aiming to support children fleeing domestic abuse has been boosted by a donation from a financial business.

St James’ Place Wealth Management has handed over £2,500 to the Lichfield Buddy Back Pack intiative.

The scheme sees backpacks filled for youngsters living in refuges.

Carrie Jahn, Buddy Bags ambassador, said “We are immensely grateful to St James’ Place Wealth Management for their very generous donation of £2,500 towards our Lichfield Buddy Back pack project.

“Their donation means we are a huge step forwards in making our project goal a reality, it has set us well on the path to the final target of £4,500.

“Their donation alone will mean 100 children escaping domestic violence will receive a buddy back pack this year which is amazing.”

The organisers hope to have a back pack session in Lichfield where 180 rucksacks will be filled by volunteers, including members of the police cadets.

“Give these children something they can own”
Karen Green, from Staffordshire Police, said: “It is wonderful news that we have received this donation.

“The Buddy Bag Foundation is an amazing charity that has helped thousands of children who have fled domestic violence.

“Children are often forced to flee domestic violence with the clothes they are wearing, and these buddy bags contain items such as pyjamas, toiletries, teddies, crayons and story books which all aim to try and give these children something they can own.

“It’s a wonderful project to set up in Lichfield, and I hope that the community can get behind the scheme.

“Lichfield police and cadets are very pleased to fully support this scheme and will be playing an active part in bag packing.”
