BUDDY BAG PACKING EVENT – Q3 2018
In October, more than 40 volunteers from the Advanced Manufacturing Engineering team across the UK packed 360 Buddy Bags for children entering emergency accommodation
in Merseyside and the Midlands.
Each year, 48,000 children require emergency accommodation in the UK and often arrive in just the clothes they are wearing. Many of these children receive Buddy Bags which contain all the essential items a child needs, as well as comfort items such as a book, photo frame and teddy bear.
They not only help to restore a sense of safety and security into a child’s life during this difficult time but can also make the transition into emergency care a little easier. By providing these children with a few essential items, the Buddy Bag Foundation, and any supporting companies who run events, can help make the transition into emergency care
a little easier.
BUDDY BAG FOUNDATION & JAGUAR LAND ROVER
As well as giving their time to pack these important bags, during two sessions in Gaydon and Halewood, the amazing JLR volunteers raised £7,000 to pay for the contents by completing the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge, walking the Three Highest UK Peaks, as well as collecting any donations.
Karen Williams, Founder of Buddy Bag Foundation, said:
“On behalf of the Buddy Bag Foundation a massive thank you for a another very successful, well organised Buddy Bag Brigade. We love working with JLR. You are professional, dedicated and very caring
and really make a difference to the community. Making a difference to 360 children is amazing.”
