Saddleworth Roundtable helps bring comfort to children with the Buddy Bag scheme

saddleworth roundtable buddy bag scheme

Caring members of Saddleworth Round Table dedicated their Sunday afternoon to packing emergency care back packs which will help comfort 180 children.

The Buddy Bag Foundation runs the scheme and donates the bags to children – from babies through to 16-year-olds – who find themselves in emergency care after a traumatic incident.

The bags help to make a difference by ensuring a child has the essential and comfort items they need for their immediate well-being.

Round Table made a generous donation of £2,250 to Buddy Bags Oldham as well as giving up their time to pack the brightly-coloured rucksacks, 90 of which will go to children in Oldham.

Club members and their families filled the Oak Room at the White Hart, with 25 Tablers including children joining in the two-hour session.

Richard Foster, Round Table chairman, said: “We hope these bags will help the children of Oldham when experiencing very challenging times in their lives.

“It was a great day and shows what more we can do in addition to financial contributions.

The bag pack was a great-team building event and the children really enjoyed it, especially knowing they were helping other children who are fleeing violent situations and may not have anything other than what they’re wearing.

“We couldn’t have done this without the logistical support provide by Robin Elgin and his team at OMC on Oldham and the White Hart for providing the facilities.”
