Helping local communities at Christmas

Birmingham central donations

We think it’s important to try and make a positive impact on the lives of those less fortunate than ourselves. That’s why every year since 2007 we’ve run the Access Christmas Appeal to benefit local communities around the country.

From October to December, stores around the nation set aside space in one of their storage units to hold donations from members of the public and from local businesses before distributing them to local charities in time for Christmas.

As usual, the response this year was over-whelming and the generosity of locals has been outstanding.

Our Birmingham Central storage branch in particular stood out, with a staggering 12,000 toys collected for Kids Out – a local charity that works to provide disadvantaged children across the UK with wonderful memories, whether they have lived in poverty or have been victims of domestic violence. The donations we received at this branch helped us to beat our all-time donations record to the Access Christmas Appeal.

We’d like to extend a particular thank you to Karen and the whole team at The Buddy Bag Foundation who selflessly helped our campaign by donating a selection of brand-new children’s toys, all the while continuing their own important work of supporting children with emergency accommodation to help restore safety and security to their lives.

Thanks to all for your help and generosity!

The Buddy Bag Foundation

The Buddy Bag Foundation was founded in 2015 to help make a difference to the 48,000 children entering emergency care every year in the UK. We supply these children with a Buddy Bag containing essential items to help restore a sense of comfort and love.
