Last week, over 30 colleagues from across Quilter came together with one shared purpose: to make a tangible difference for children entering emergency care.
Following an inspiring introduction from Karen Williams OBE, Founder and CEO of the Buddy Bag Foundation, the team jumped straight into action and didn’t hold back. In just 20 minutes, our volunteers packed an incredible 192 Buddy Bags. If there were a world record for speed, teamwork, and precision, I’m certain we’d be in the running.

Buddy Bags are more than backpacks, they’re a lifeline. Each one is filled with essential items such as toiletries and nightwear, along with comforting additions like a book and a teddy bear, all tailored to the age of the child receiving it. These bags are distributed to women’s refuges across the UK and offered to children who often arrive with nothing but the clothes they’re wearing.
The sheer efficiency and enthusiasm in the room made it a standout session. But what resonated most was the sense of collective purpose. Everyone could see, feel, and understand the immediate impact of their contribution, packing care, dignity and comfort into each bag for a child facing crisis.

It was a heartening reminder of what we can achieve when we come together, and of the meaningful role the Quilter Foundation plays in supporting communities in moments that matter most.
