At City Energy Network, we believe in using our platform to support meaningful causes. Our recent charity event with the Buddy Bag Foundation was a powerful reminder of just how much can be achieved when people come together with purpose.
25 of our team members, including our CEO Chris McLain, had the honour of volunteering alongside the incredible Karen Williams OBE, Co-Founder and CEO of the Buddy Bag Foundation. Together, we packed 200 Buddy Bags for children who are entering emergency care, children who often must leave home with little or nothing to call their own.
Each bag we packed was filled with essential items and a few small comforts, a toothbrush, pyjamas, a book, and perhaps most importantly, a teddy bear to hold on to. These bags are designed to restore a sense of safety, comfort, and love to children facing some of life’s most difficult moments.
Reflecting on the day, our CEO Chris McLain shared:

The day was filled with teamwork, laughter, and a deep sense of shared purpose. We left the event not only inspired by the incredible mission of the Buddy Bag Foundation but also humbled by the opportunity to play a small part in supporting children and families in crisis.
Karen’s passion and dedication are nothing short of inspiring, and it was a privilege to work alongside someone who has made such a lasting impact on so many lives. Her leadership and warmth set the tone for the day and left a lasting impression on us all.
We are so proud to be a part of this partnership and look forward to continuing to support the Buddy Bag Foundation in any way we can. Thank you to everyone who helped make the day so special, it’s one we won’t forget.
